Roseia
I heard a voice say “Yeon there’s someone injured, I need you to carry them to our bed. I will get the medical supplies, while you call Shin-ju”. The moment my body was being carried I lost consciousness, so the next time I was awake, the first thing I did was to feel around me to figure out where I was.
A voice startled me with “please stop moving as you have been badly injured and I’ve checked your eyes so I know you have lost your sight.” I was confused so in order to calm down I started to tap my teeth. The voice continued “Please let me know if you are you able to talk by slowly raising your left hand for no and right hand for yes.” I raised both of my hands, so I heard him ask “why did you raise both hands?”
I wasn’t sure if the voice belonged to a human or a supernatural creature, so I took a risk and answered {I can communicate using my telepathy}. An audible sigh of relief was heard from him, “I’m glad to know that you are a creature like us, what type of creature are you?” {I’m a nine tailed fox from Australia working for the afterlife immigration office here in Korea.}
I heard excitement in his voice when he exclaimed “Daebak another nine tailed fox, I will let Lord Yeon that you are aren’t human. His wife patched you up while you were asleep, then I was called to do a thorough check up to assess your injuries. I’m Koo Shin-ju, you may call me Shin-ju”
{nice to meet you Koo Shin-ju, I am Lady Roseia}
“now that I know you can communicate, please get some more sleep so your body can heal a bit more.” I followed Shin-ju’s order by allowing myself to fall back to sleep in order to heal my injuries.
The next time I woke up I could sense someone sitting so I asked {who’s there?} the voice responded “good afternoon Lady Roseia, I’m Lee Yeon, I’m happy to meet another nine tailed fox. Shin-ju mentioned you are also working for Taluipa, so I’m not surprised of her not talking about you. It is always hard to get any information out of her, especially anything her eye sees.”
{it’s an honour to finally meet you my lord and you are right about getting information out of mum. I’m sorry you had to meet me in my current state.}
“Roseia your injured body is only temporary and I have called a friend to help with your healing, he has special blood that heals wounds in a few days depending on the person. You are welcome in our home for as long as you need, is there any important information we need to know about your body in general?”
{I am very sensitive to curses and I have sustained damage from my past, which is why I normally wear a necklace blessed by mum to keep me protected from curses. My body heals at the same speed as a human, so this is why my injuries are taking their time to heal.}
“oh we didn’t find an amulet when you came to our doorstop, so I will need him to check you over for any active curses.” A sound I didn’t recognise rang out in the room, I heard tapping on a phone screen so i asked {who was that?}
“That was my friend letting me know me know he’s on his way over and his name is Cheon Moo-young. He and i go all the way back to our childhood, but he got on the wrong side of the old hag.”
Before Yeon could respond the door bell rang and I heard footsteps come closer to the room, with two sets entering the room. {who just entered the room?}
“Roseia it was Shin-ju and my close friend Cheon Moo-young” Yeon replied. I heard the change over of the person sitting next to me and felt someone grab my hand gently.
He introduced him self “it is nice to meet you I am Cheon Moo-young and I can see you have been injured due to a unknown situation. Your energy is telling me there is damage, which might explain the presence of curses. I will place some of my blood on your external wounds, which might make you feel sleepy but I can see that you really need a lot of rest. I will check for the areas that have been affected while you sleep, then Yeon and I will work out the next steps so don’t worry” I felt a few drops go into my wounds which stung a tiny bit but went away very quickly and I found myself getting drowsy so I closed my eyes.
Moo-young
Her pale skin was marred with wounds and her unique eyes were covered by a thick white film, just like Lord Yeon’s had once before. There was less black among the red of her bob hair cut. She was slightly different from when I first met her.
Once Roseia was fast asleep I used my energy to do an overall scan to find the main areas where the curse markers were located. Her eyes and her throat felt the hottest while doing the overall scan, so I took a closer look at both parts. I found curse markers on the outer corners of her eyes and the left and right sides of her throat.
Yeon had been watching me the whole time so I turned to him, “she has been cursed in two areas, her eyes and throat which explains why she can’t see and speak with her physical voice.”
“We don’t know who cursed her so the method that Shin-ju used to get my vision back in 1938 won’t work here” Yeon said in reply.
“that’s not entire true, you can ask the old hag about the job that lead up to this, then we can start tracking them. As only supernatural beings can curse others so the it means the culprits will need to be dealt with for the curses to go away. For now we need to cover her eyes with a cloth so please grab something suitable.”
Yeon left the room and I placed a few more drops in each of her wounds, as I had checked the state of her core at the same time and I saw how damaged it was. I was shocked at how she was walking around and hunting other demons with energy leaking out of her core. Yeon returned with a small length of cloth, so I directed him to tie it around her eyes.
“We need to have someone sitting with her while she very slowly recovers as her core is full of holes. I will also place containment markings to stop her energy from leaving the room to aid her healing” I informed Yeon. He left the room so I could place the markings and get comfortable with the first watch.
Ji-ah
walking past cobwebs in the kitchen, I found my daughter Yun working on her homework at the dining room table. I started preparing dinner when I heard on the left “mum I felt a new supernatural presence in the house.” When it was safe for me to turn to her, I explained “I found an injured person on our doorstop, and it turns out she is a full nine tailed fox like your dad is.”
The expression on her face was a thoughtful one like she was forming a response and before she could ask to meet her. I said “she is in a delicate condition so seeing her is out of the question, please don’t ask me again until we get the all clear from your dad or dad’s friend ok sweetie. The situation surrounding her is dangerous and you are only half nine tailed fox so you can get hurt.”
She responded with “ok mum I understand, I am feeling a bit of a pull towards her but my gut feeling tells me, she needs more time before I meet her.” A proud smile formed on my face as I continued to cook dinner.
Two days later I was sitting at Roseia’s bed side keeping her company while she slept and so far she had been asleep. I was reading a book when in the left hand of my vision I spotted a spirit standing the corner furthest away from the bedroom door. I did a double take when I realised the spirit looked exactly like Roseia, the only difference was she looked healthier.
The spirit watched Roseia as she slept for ten minutes before she disappeared, my gut feeling told that I needed to take note of the spirit appearing in our bedroom. I grabbed my notebook and a pen from my husband’s desk so I could write the encounter down to remember it. As I finished the important details in my notebook, Yeon walked into our bedroom with a smile.
“From the smile on your face it seems you were successful in getting the required information about Roseia’s last job, would I be correct?” I asked my husband. Before he could answer me I saw Roseia stirring from the corner of my eye and Yeon grabbed a chair to sit on the left hand of the bed. The first thing he asked was “how are you feeling?”
{my wounds don’t hurt as much but that’s the only improvement I can feel}
“We have some good news regarding who attacked, I visited the old hag to get the details of your last job. You had been given the task of hunting down a fox, is that correct?” Yeon asked her.
{yes lord Yeon, did mum actually use her eye and see an additional fox after I left the office?} Roseia asked.
“Its rare for the old hag to use her all seeing eye for anyone, she did indeed your target had teamed up with another fox but didn’t tell you. This information came with no strings attached which is rare for her” my husband said with a tone of surprise.
Yeon explained “now that we know it was two foxes, this explains what happened to your voice and eyesight. The next step was suggested by the old man who was around and he told us to bring you to the ritual chamber under the office. Shin-ju can stay with you, while Moo-young, Ki Yu-ri and myself hunt down the two foxes in order to remove the curses attached to your voice and eyesight.”
{Lord Yeon who is Ki Yu-ri?} Roseia asked him.
“Ki Yu-ri is a female fox and my wife” said by Shin-ju who had entered the room. “thank you Ji-ah for texting me when Roseia woke up, don’t worry I’m here to check how the wounds are healing” he finished with a smile.
Roseia
Lord Yeon and his wife left the room so Shin-ju could check my wounds. After washing his hands, he started with my ankles which had been one of the worse effected parts. he looked at each wound then asked” can you feel when I touch your legs”
{if you hadn’t told me you were touching my legs, I wouldn’t have known because I’ve had no feeling from my waist down since waking up here} I replied.
“that’s not good, there might be a third curse being hidden by the other curses, so we can deal with that one once your eyes and voice return. I’m hoping a little bit of the feeling comes back on its own, so we can move on your walking once you have enough eyesight” the reply Shin-ju gave me didn’t fill me with confidence.
“I’m going to hook you up to two IV bags, one will give your body the nutrients its needs until you are able to have real food. The other will have a solution in it to put you to sleep, to make to easier to transport you to the office” he informed me.
Once they were hooked up to me the room started to get darker and I fell into a deep sleep.
Shin-ju
Once Yeon and i arrived at the afterlife immigration office, he carefully picked up Roseia to carry her inside. Before we had left his apartment, Moo-young and Ki Yu-ri had been briefed about the hunt of the two foxes and I had expected my wife to question why she was being included. Her response when we asked her why she agreed was “Yun had told me the female nine tailed would be a key person in our lives, so she was important enough to protect.”
It was clear to me that Yun knew something more than the rest of us, while I was looking back in my head my feet had carried me into the main room. Taluipa was sitting at desk doing some paperwork, with Hyunuiong dusting in the dining area. He was the first to notice Yeon carrying Roseia, “Yeon why are you carrying Roseia?”
Hyunuiong’s tone was of a warm loving father which came out in his words and body language. Yeon gently laid her down on the couch, this action caught Taluipa’s attention she put the paperwork down and made her way to the arm chair closet to her desk. “are you here to leave her in the ritual room, while you go hunt the foxes responsible for her injuries?” Hyunuiong asked. “I have the room prepared, shall we get her comfortable so the you can hunt these foxes.”
Taluipa chimed in with “does she have her necklace or is it missing?” “Roseia did mention a necklace, but she doesn’t have it on her” Yeon responded with. Her face went blank for a second, then she said, “the foxes have it, so you will need to get it back.” “that’s enough taking we need to get Roseia downstairs” declared Hyunuiong.
Yeon picked her up and we headed to the left and down the stairs, he placed her on the left side of the bed. I knew she wouldn’t wake up due the dose of sleep medication from the iv bag. Yeon turned to me “look after her Shin-ju.” He left to go meet up with my wife and moo-young and Hyunuiong asked me “how many others are helping with hunt?”
“my wife and one other person who can’t be named here is helping him so you don’t need to worry. I know you see him like a son and I get the feeling it could be same with how you feel towards Roseia. I could tell by your voice that you care for her” I replied.
“You have been a good friend to Yeon for so long and I see you becoming one to Roseia, whom I see like a daughter” he said with a smile. “let’s seal the room and we can catch up on what’s been happening recently.” We walked out of the room, he placed his hand on a panel to activate the seal, and we headed to the kitchen to catch up.
Yeon
I was sitting next Roseia when I heard a croaky dry cough and saw her face scrunch up in pain, so I grabbed a glass of water with a straw that was nearby. I placed it on the bedside table so I could help her sit up, “take small slow sips only.” After a few sips her face relaxed back to normal, the glass went back to side and I heard her physical voice for the first time.
“Annyeong haseyo Lord Yeon, it’s nice to meet you properly with my physical voice” she said out loud. “Your Korean is perfect with no trace of any accent, makes me think you have been speaking it for decades” I commented. Suddenly she did a big yawn which told me she needed more sleep, “I will be here watching over you while you sleep.” Her face showed me the trust she had in me and soon fell into a deep sleep.
Shin-ju
Two days after Roseia’s voice came back, I was sitting at her bedside and I could feel the heat coming from her body. I placed the back of my hand on her forehead and she was burning up so I grabbed the thermometer. I asked “Roseia please open your mouth so I can place the thermometer under your tongue”
She opened her mouth so I could place it under her tongue, once the thermometer beeped I took a look and was shocked to see 41˚C. I hooked her up to a IV bag to stop her from getting dehydrated and Ji-ah brought me a bowl of cool water with two cloths. One of the cloths was placed on her forehead once it was damp and the other I used to cool down her body, so I wondered if this was a part of the curse or just her body fighting any infection.
I wanted to confirm my suspicion of a third curse that was causing this fever and her temporary paralysis, so I contacted Moo-young. An hour later he entered the bedroom, the first thing he did was close his eyes and the look on his face confirmed my suspicion without using words.
Once he opened his eyes, he said “you were right to call me as there is a third curse that was hidden and it’s showing itself with the fever and her temporary paralysis. I will add enhanced healing markings to help strengthen her core so allow her fox self to start the process of breaking down the curse on her eyes. Please keep focusing on healing her physical body, while we wait on her to help herself. You are doing a great job.”
After the marking were placed alongside the others Moo-young went to get another bowl of cool water along with a cloth and sat on the right-hand side of the bed to focus on Roseia’s right side. This allowed me to focus of cooling down her left side, and I got the impression that Moo-young knew more about Roseia than he was letting on.
